Sunlight

Poem by Isis I’Yon

I wish I could sip the sunlight
Cup it in my hands
and let it warm me to my elbows
I wish it’d coat my tongue like honey
and soothe the static in my stomach
I bet it tastes like laughter
and how chrysanthemums sound
Like joy unadulterated
Like something so good it unzips you
right down to your DNA
