Embrace

Poem by delusionalPhoenix

A new Sun wrecks havoc
in the sweltering heat of June,
while a crowd amassed –
in thousands;
sing and croon – and wave;
bearing a token of shared pride,
it sways,

and rush through –
the narrow streets for reaches
of a shore;
to drown, to cleanse
scorning gazes they bore;
like tendrils they mount – on
laughter and life; fancying
a dawn not there to hide,
like a floret they bear –
everything hurled;
awaiting an embrace from
an unjust world.

delusionalPhoenix is a day-dreamer of a writer. They like to write about anything, but more often than not, those writings take the shape of verses.
