The Creeping Creeper

Poem by Adesiyan Oluwapelumi

Written after the movie ‘ Jeepers Creepers’ (2022)

I

Come twenty three days,
thy soul will become a meal,
so enjoy your solitude in this world,
for you'll be rid of your misery.

II

watch your thought traipse to a graveyard
& prey upon a sheaf of bones -
thy bones will be mine.
thy bones will be thee.

III

My Beloved,
the Creeping Creeper calls out to thee,
Come to him as a bride
& let's make feast together.
Of course, remember you're the meal.

IV

red orbs beaming, enchanted
medallions, a flaming dagger
do you think you can
avert an immortal death?

V

fall like dewdrops from the grass
into his mouth
& maybe he might consider not
swallowing.
Of course, you.
Remember the meal.
