Poem by Evie Groch
Ode to the Desert Onion Short, stout, hearty little growth, sun kissed head of lemony gold on dense body of solid green, two feet high with shallow roots, you are not uncommon among your peers. You stand tall in the AmuDarya Desert of Uzbekistan, inedible, incredible, unforgettable, posing for attention from nomads on what was once the Silk Road.
