What We’re Looking For:

  • Work grounded in specific, concrete imagery: pieces that show rather than tell, bringing the reader into a particular moment through vivid, tangible detail.
  • Poetry, Short Fiction, or Short Non-Fiction (1,500 words max)
  • No simultaneous submissions.
  • Absolutely no AI-generated content.

Each accepted piece is featured in our newsletter and across our platforms. We publish one piece per email to give your work the spotlight it deserves.

By clicking yes, you agree when submitting to Written Tales; you are granting us first publication and Combined Non-Exclusive Rights (including Worldwide Rights), but you, the writer, still own your work. The copyright always remains with the author. First publication rights grant us a 30-day period wherein the work is not published elsewhere. Non-Exclusive rights allow us to publish your wonderful work on our online platforms, social media channels, audio, digital and/or print publications, promotional materials (audio, digital and/or print), and archives to help further promote your work and the Written Tales writers.
