Opportunity

Poem by Thompson Emate

Opportunity is a dove. It comes to our abode. It takes gentle strides awaiting our embrace, finding a place for its feet.

— Thompson Emate

Opportunity comes to us,
Sometimes in a subtle way,
Some say it's a gentle force,
Our indifference makes it stray.

Opportunity is a door left ajar,
Only a partial view meets the eyes,
They are meadows seen from afar,
It breaks the ice.

Opportunity is a visitor with blossom deeds,
The onus is ours to yield,
It sows viable seeds,
It brings us to a green field.

Opportunity shows us the picture,
We script the future.

Thompson Emate spends his leisure time writing, particularly poetry and prose. He has a deep love for nature and the arts. He lives in Lagos, Nigeria.
